Excellent (per usual), Laura. I think this kind of information should be considered when discerning about family size and when to grow, or if to grow, hits the table. It’s the kind of disclosure that so many families don’t have.
Loved this! I recently stumbled on “Pints and Ponytails” on Instagram, a group of dads who get together at a local pub with mannequins to practice hair styles for their daughters and connect with each other. So incredibly endearing and also important for them to have a space to connect about being dads! Got me thinking about how there’s soooo many mom groups out there, but what about dads?
It’s so important that research is being done on dads, especially now with all the scary data coming out around boys’ mental health. Thank you for this write-up!
Oh I need to look this up! But yes - dads get left out of the conversation for the most part or are relegated to “secondary” status, when in fact, they are spending more time with their kids than any other generation of fathers.
Hey — I came across your writing and really liked how you think.
I’m exploring something similar from a different angle — writing about human behavior through a system design lens (like debugging internal patterns).
Just started publishing on Substack. If you ever get a moment to read, I’d genuinely value your perspective.
Also happy to support your work — feels like there’s an interesting overlap here
